  1. 01
Find your plan type and start date

Sign in at account.adobe.com, open Plans and payment, and note the plan name, whether it is annual paid monthly, annual prepaid, or monthly, and the date of your first payment.

  2. 02
Check whether you bought it from Adobe

If you subscribed through Apple, Google, Microsoft, or a reseller, their refund rules apply and the request goes to them, not to Adobe.

  3. 03
Cancel, read the details, keep the proof

Choose Manage plan, then Cancel your plan. Read the cancellation details before you confirm: that is where any fee is shown. Save the confirmation email and a screenshot of the final screen.

How this works

Adobe gives a full refund on most plans if you cancel within 14 days of your first purchase. After that, the plan type decides what happens: an annual plan paid monthly carries a cancellation fee of 50% of the remaining contract, while prepaid annual and month-to-month payments are not refunded. Check which plan you have before you cancel, because the cancellation screen is where the fee is applied.

How the Adobe early termination fee is calculated

The fee applies to annual plans paid monthly that are canceled more than 14 days after purchase. It is 50% of what you still owe for the rest of the year.

Adobe’s own example: cancel in the ninth month and you pay 50% of the three remaining monthly payments. On a $22.99 single-app plan that is about $34.

In March 2026 the UK Competition and Markets Authority opened an investigation into whether these fees are unfair and clearly disclosed before purchase. It has not reached a conclusion, but if the fee was not shown clearly at signup, say so in your request.

  • Within 14 days of the first payment: cancel for a full refund, with no fee.
  • Close to your renewal date: turn off auto-renew and let the year run out instead of canceling mid-term.
  • Plan was changed or renewed without clear notice: ask Adobe in writing to waive the fee and explain why.
Before you send, and when to escalate

Before you send

  • Check the plan type before you cancel; it decides whether there is a fee.
  • Count 14 days from the first payment, not from the start of a free trial.
  • Cancel each plan separately if you have more than one.
  • Screenshot the cancellation details before confirming.

Escalate when

  • You canceled within 14 days and were not refunded.
  • A fee was charged that the cancellation screen did not show.
  • You were charged again after a confirmed cancellation.
Common questions
Can I get a full refund from Adobe?
Yes, for most plans, if you cancel within 14 days of your initial purchase. After 14 days, monthly and prepaid annual payments are not refunded, and annual plans paid monthly may carry a cancellation fee.
How do I avoid the Adobe cancellation fee?
Cancel within the first 14 days, or turn off auto-renew and let the annual term end. If the fee was not made clear when you subscribed, ask Adobe in writing to waive it.
I still see a charge after canceling. Is that a mistake?
Often it is the final charge for the current billing period, which Adobe says is normal. If the charge is dated after your cancellation took effect, ask for a refund and attach the confirmation.
I subscribed through the App Store or Google Play. Who refunds me?
The store that billed you. Request the refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com or from Google Play, not from Adobe.
